For the past three years, groups of researchers have established themselves
as an integral part of the Control Systems and Advanced Life Support research at
NASA. While each group has enjoyed individual success, the integration of
research groups will meet current integration requirements proposed by NASA and
President Bush's Space Initiative. The lead groups of this agglomeration
are Civil Engineering and Computer Science. The support groups include
Chemical Engineering, Plant and Soil Science and Electrical Engineering.
The accomplishments of this group include:
Two former TTU researchers accepted full time positions
with NASA and at JSC and KSC in water area.
Over a dozen technical presentations made at NASA
supported conferences highlighting TTU NASA related research.
A controls workshop was conducted on the TTU campus
during the fall 2003 and was attended by several NASA researchers.
At the ALS PI meeting at the Habitation 2004 Conference,
TTU was recognized as one of two universities on the ALS Roadmap.
TTU researchers have been spending several person-weeks
on site at JSC during the summers to provide technical support to NASA
projects.
